I have an application bar in my browser which alerts of the hottest searches in the web right now. Today, alongside, with the normal "thanksgiving recipies" there was something which caught my attention.
"Human Barbie" are one of the hottest worlds in the internet right now. It prooved to be an Ukrainian curiosity, a young woman, whose dream is to resemble the plastic barbie-doll instead of a real human being. So she has taken cosmetic manipulation of her body over the extreme end. Photos made me sick.
Reality shows, blogs, magazines are filling up with the people who want to have their part in a fake publicity. Once and a while you start to wonder, were there a whole in the society's safety net when these people slipped thought it. They do not deserve publicity but care and therapy.
It is obvious that Valerie Lukyanova, The Human Barbie, does not have all the Indians in the canoe - or as we Finns say "All Moomins in the valley".
When the media - and bloggers like me - awaken after the internet phenomena was born. We write on the phenomena when, ironically, the best help for her would be a total silence. But here we are. Talking on her. Pouring more gazoline to the fire.
